This was my first get-away with Jimmy and friends during the Thanksgiving holidays. And I must say the experience was glorious. It was Wednesday morning around 6:00 AM when we loaded up the SUV and met Barry, Stephanie and family to start the long drive to Pensacola Florida. I had stocked up on audio books for the ride, but I realized early that it wouldn’t work because Jimmy and Alvin (Stephanie’s cousin) talked too much and I couldn’t pay attention to the book.
This motivated me to pull out my laptop and work on merging a few excel spreadsheets. By the time we reached Pensacola, I had successfully solved a major dilemma involving automating processes. I was happy that I was able to stay focused long enough to make the drive bearable. I don’t do cross county well!
The first stop in Pensacola was to Barry’s brother Tony. He is the owner of the best wing cookin’ restaurant “Cole’s Wings and Things” in the city. I hate I didn’t think to take a picture. But these wings were so good, I ate too many to count. I should have taken a picture of them too. We stopped by to see Mrs. Cole (Barry’s mom) and she was delightful and hospitable. We met up with his sister Karen and brother Danny who were waiting at the house.
On the way to the beach house I saw this cute little boutique that captivated my attention. The colors reminded me of a little girl’s tutu.
Once plans were made to meet up with the rest of the family, we headed to the beach house. As we crossed over the bridge, the scenery took my breath away. Now I started taking pictures.
The view from the balcony of the beach house was spectacular. Never have I seen such blue water and white sand at a private residence. This view is usually reserved for the beachfront hotels and private mansions. The view from the beach shore wasn’t bad either.
The next morning Linda, Karen and Monika were busy getting the food ready for the family feast that would no doubt be fabulous.
Even though we were in Florida, the Texans were playing so Barry and Stephanie were decked out in their Texan attire. Uncle Edward, Barry and Kaden are relaxing and waiting for the game to start.
Jimmy and Alvin got their front row seats early while Stephanie is showing off her red Texan shirt. How about those Texans! This was a nail biter that they pulled out in the end.
Here is what the meal consisted of:
I really enjoyed meeting this family who graciously welcomed me and Jimmy to spend Thanksgiving with them. Mrs. Cole made us feel like one of the family.
After our 18 hour Black Friday shopping experience is was time to return to Houston. I couldn’t resist taking a few departing shots. I really enjoyed my holiday with the Cole family.
