I inherited my mother’s buffet cabinet but I wanted to change the color. So I got my mother’s blessings to change the color to black. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time with the make over, so I searched the internet for a fast way to change the appearance without a lot of work.
I ran across a few blogs that talked about spray painting furniture and they made it sound so easy. So I wiped the cabinet down to remove dust and dirt. Then I got my husband and son to lift it up on the table in the back. To catch the spray paint we hung a drop cloth behind it. I made sure I got the kind of paint that had the primer in it too. In the picture above, you can see the can. I had a brain freeze because you can’t see the kind of paint in the can. But I can say that I got it at Home Depot and you can hold the can in any direction and it will still spray.
Next I focused on the hardware. I gave it a good washing with plain soap and water then applied some good stuff I purchased from B Sue Boutique called Gilder’s Paste. This stuff reminds you of shoe polish, but it’s good.
Here are a few close ups of the knobs after the Gilders Paste was applied.
And finally here is a picture of the finished cabinet. I really liked the way it came out.
