Hello everybody! I know it has been some time since I posted anything, and for that, I apologize.
I just wanted to share with you my decorating tips for my mantel. We have been renovating different rooms at home, and my mantel was one of the first projects we tackled.
First, I wanted to make sure the garland would be sufficient to cover the mantel. My original garland was thin, so I took a second garland and twisted some of the twigs together to make a thicker and wider garland.
After this I wanted to add a little character and texture to the garland. To achieve this look, we added a different type of garland that was made up of long pine sprays with iced edges. This really kicked it up a notch.
I found this beautiful iced and slightly frosted garland at Michael's. It was just enough texture to add the contract I was looking for.
Once I got the mantel covered, it was time to add the fairy lights and picks.
After a few days, I grew tired of the red, and decided I only wanted pops of color. I removed the red picks, leopard bow, and white ferns. I kept the gold leaves and added huge golden acorns, and jeweled golden fern leaves.
This simple mantel was quick and easy. It only took me about 90 minutes. This is because I was able to pack all of the garlands and the lights away together. The only decorations not included in my mantel bag, were the picks and special ornaments. I usually change my mind several times before I decide on a theme. This way I don’t have to pull out items I am not going to use. The key is to have all themed items packed away together. And don’t forget to have ornaments packed by color.
